In October 2022 I was approached by the team behind Karingal PLACE Neighbourhood Centre who wanted a statement artwork for their walkway. A 10m length of wall that greets anyone who enters the community space.
Servicing Maternal Health Care, U3A, and a hoard of Kindergarten children daily; the task of creating a piece with universal appeal was requested and together we decided to put the mural design up to a vote.
Throughout October and November we went back and forth in narrowing down the final designs that went to vote, and in December the Australian Native Rainbow Mural was unanimously voted in.
The chosen mural is inspired by Australian flora, depicting a subtle rainbow of florals and foliage you'll often spot in the landscaping of local residents. The longest mural I've ever painted, and the first I've ever completed as a freelance artist. It has been an incredibly humbling to see the community take ownership of the spaces newest piece of art.
